NEPTN (NEPTUNO) = THE ROMAN GOD OF THE SEA
For us, the Roman sea god NEPTN (NEPTUNO) symbolically represents the unique feeling of freedom and vastness on the water while kitesurfing, sailing, or surfing.
'Aurea Libertas' / 'golden freedom'.
The feeling of freedom that lives in the present moment, in the now.
Our maritime jewelry is clear, striking, and timeless.
Our journeys together are unforgettable.
On sea and on land.

History
2012: Three friends go kitesurfing together in Rhodes. The Greek north wind, Meltemi, blows strong and stirs thoughts toward a yearning for freedom. A mischievous innkeeper asks, ‘Pistols ok?’ with a grin reaching his sun-weathered ears. Yes, the 'pistola' is still okay, but for how much longer should we waste precious time at home in endless meetings? That same evening, grand plans are made, promising more time on the water and less in the office. None of these plans are ever sustainably implemented, but the seed is planted.
2014: Another kitesurfing trip sparks the inception of NEPTN. This time, it's Zanzibar. Inspired by the Maasai adorned with arm and leg bands, the journey leads back to Bavaria. Soon, the first designs are created and sold in sailing shops around Lake Ammersee. Wakeboard parks across Bavaria follow suit. Eventually, the online shop is launched.
2016: The concept of individually crafted bracelets in our small workshop gains traction, and under the guidance of our founder, Wolf, additional workshops open in the Netherlands, USA, and Russia. Each is run by like-minded individuals, all adhering to the same concept of small-scale, custom production.
2022: New Home: All the journeys since NEPTN's founding have repeatedly brought us back to Marsala (the 'Harbor of God'). The wind mostly blows from the northwest and is called Maestrale. This is now also our headquarters, located directly on the largest and beautiful saltwater lagoon, Lo Stagnone. Here, we develop new designs, plan our kite trips, and coordinate the supply chain for our various workshops. Most of our photos and videos are also created here. Our models are all friends from the Marsala Kite Club who are passionate Kitesurfers and instructors. The production of your bracelets for the German-speaking region is now also done in individual custom pieces in Sicily.
2024: Future… For all you kitesurfing enthusiasts, we are organizing kite camps here in Sicily. Additionally, we will be expanding our maritime T-shirt and sweater designs.

DESIGN & MATERIALS
We love the sea
Nomen est Omen:
NEPTN symbolizes our connection to the sea and water sports.
We try to spend as much time as possible on the sea and in nature.
It’s only natural that topics like sustainability are very close to our hearts.
Sustainability & Responsibility:
Product Lifecycle: All our products are designed for longevity.
The materials we use strongly contrast with the fast fashion industry.
We are explicitly against a throwaway society and do not follow the latest street styles or fashion trends, which now change every two weeks.
Our designs are timeless and robust. We offer a repair service for all our NEPTN jewelry pieces so that you can enjoy them for a long time.
"By the way, we don't think it's okay when customers order 5 or more items just to choose one and return the rest. We produce to order, and returns waste time and materials."
Our shirts are also individually printed for you in-house, made to order: meaning no overstock and no waste of resources.
Additionally, almost all our shirts are 'Made in Italy,' with the exception of one manufacturer from Belgium.
Let's talk about plastic!
We all know how harmful plastic is to marine organisms and ultimately to us humans. Some of our products do contain synthetic materials (especially our ropes).
Here’s how we handle it:
We call it **Project 💯
For every synthetic material we use in our products, we remove 100 times the weight of plastic waste from one of the oceans or rivers. We support the Ocean Cleanup project for this.

Plastic Walks:
We also like to get our hands dirty and organize 'plastic walks' or 'beach cleanups' at our various locations.

Our Leather:
From Animal to Tannery:
We source our leather exclusively from tanneries in Italy, France, or Germany. All the leather we use is a byproduct of food production.
The tanneries we work with are all members of the Leather Working Group (LWG).
[leatherworkinggroup.com](https://leatherworkinggroup.com/)
This organization monitors and audits the tanning process and subsequent water purification. This prevents harmful wastewater, especially from chrome tanning, from entering the environment.
Where possible, we prefer vegetable-tanned leather.
Another interesting aspect is that the premium tanneries we prefer to buy from mostly source their hides from small farmers based in the Alps. These farmers, due to the high altitudes, are less affected by insects, resulting in hides with fewer blemishes.
No mass production, better for the animals and the land. Also, better for the environment.
We are a small company, so our positive impact may not be very large. Still, the oceans are made up of many small drops.
If you've made it this far in reading, you're probably one of us.
Welcome aboard 💦
We offer a lifetime warranty on all glued parts. So, if a clasp separates from the leather or rope, you can have it repaired by us for free.
We hope you enjoy your NEPTN piece for a long time, and thank you for your purchase! 😊
There are many manufacturers who use symbols like anchors, fishing hooks, or other maritime motifs.
We always wonder how authentic these brands really are and whether they have a true connection to the sea.
Everyone should form their own opinion on this matter ;-)
Be selective with what you choose to adorn yourself with. Jewelry is an expression of your personality.
Our products speak for themselves, which is why we don't offer a telephone hotline. The best way to reach us is through the form provided or directly via email at: seemannschaft@neptn.de
